i have this tendency to let other people convince me that i like someone. its usually someone that i do like, but not enough to do anything about it. then a friend will comment on how we would be good together and suddenly i'm totally into them.
there is a boy i have known for quite a while, since jr high i think, and we have always flirted and joked around. he is cute and fun and has always been sweet to me. but i never really considered him dating material. for one thing i have had a long standing thing for one of his close friends (that's has never actually gone anywhere in a real way).but also because he's not really my type.
anyway we ran into him several times in a row this last week, we flirted as usual but that is all. then my friend comments that she thinks we would be good as a couple. now there has never been any indication from him that he wants to seriously date me. hook up with? yes. but after she said this i started thinking maybe she was right. so i upped my flirting.
there was definitely a response.
the following textual conversation occured last evening.
(or should i say, very early this morning)
me - whats going on tonight?
him - not sure yet. either (random city bar) or (other city bar)
me- i don't know about the city, but let me know. miss me :-)
him - always do
several hours go by . . .
me - obvioulsy we are not coming to the city
him - i wanted to see you where are you?
me - (bar i always go to) of course
him - well they have to close eventually don't they?
me - just had last call. to be honest though i'm not down with random hookups.
(i find it better to point these things out before hand)
him - well what do you suggest then?
me - its late, i'm drunk and that could be a complictaed question.
him - how is it complicated?
me - because i'm complictaed
him - yeah i figured that out
me - sorry :(
him - well you win some you lose some i guess i lost this one
me - don't worry you didn't lose much anyway
(at this point i was home and promptly fell asleep. i woke up to . . . )
him - i don't know about that
i wasn't sure how to answer that so i just didn't. but the texting did not end there. about 1230 as i was watching a movie:
him - how are you this morning
me - not too bad. u?
him - good. i didn't drink last night
(does he point out his soberness to make a point?)
me - o really?
him - well i drank but i wasn't drunk
me- thats good. i had a fun night despite some drama
him - good that you didn't let it ruin your night
me - yeah i'm a trooper. did you have a good night?
him - yeah it was allright. could have been better though.
me - that sucks. anything in particular?
(totally fishing)
him - you didn't show up :(
me - well you were far away too ;-)
he never answered that one.
probably because he's packing.
to go back to school.
